Design for confidence

A screen can be technically simple and still feel unfamiliar. Plain language, strong contrast, predictable navigation, generous touch targets, and a clear way back all help people understand what will happen next.

Test in the setting where it will be used

Lighting, noise, connectivity, device ownership, and facilitator support can change the experience. Testing only in a quiet office misses the conditions that shape everyday use.

  • Watch how people begin, pause, recover, and finish a task.
  • Avoid relying on colour alone to communicate meaning.
  • Provide readable labels instead of unexplained icons.
  • Support assisted onboarding without removing independence.

Iterate respectfully

Feedback should lead to visible decisions. Explain what changed, what still needs study, and why some requests may need a different solution. This makes participation meaningful and keeps the product grounded in real needs.
